Use Visualization to Kill Junk Food Addictions Visualization is very effective for eliminating the desire to eat junk food. Once you eliminate the desire, eliminating the food becomes like releasing an anchor. This enables you to get all the weight-loss benefits of eating properly without any of the men- tal, emotional, or biochemical drawbacks to dieting. If at this point you still have any lingering junk food addic- tions, try practicing this visualization technique. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s painless. It is also extremely effective. Technique: All you have to do is to imagine yourself eating something that you would like to stop eating, and then imagine something repulsive happening while you’re eating the food. Since everyone is different, you have to decide what you find repulsive. Maggots repulse me. So what I used to do is imagine that I was eating a piece of bread when all of a sudden I noticed that it was laced with maggots. I could see them wiggling around on the bread, and I could feel them moving around in my mouth. I then imagined spitting out the food, and becoming nauseated and disgusted.
