Technique: Anytime that you have a negative thought, do not dwell on it. Simply say: “I acknowledge you and I accept you,” then feel the thought instantly dissolve. Con- centrate on the relief and relaxation that your body feels as it releases tension from each and every cell.

Accept Your Body Exactly as It Is It’s important to come to a point where you feel you’re comfort- able with your body exactly as it is right now. One of the things that helped me tremendously in the beginning was coming to a place mentally where I decided that I could live the rest of my life exactly as I was (and this was when I weighed over 400 pounds!), but I just didn’t want to gain any more weight. Once I came to this place in my thinking, I started losing weight. As contrary as this may sound, rather than being dissatisfied and impatient with your weight, try being comfortable with yourself exactly as you are right now. This is just another example of how accepting your negative aspects causes them to disappear. It’s remarkable how effective this technique really is. If you feel you’re not all right exactly as you are and that you had better lose weight quickly, whether it’s for a wedding or the swimsuit season or because you simply cannot stand yourself, you’re effectively starving for self-esteem and self-acceptance. In essence, you’re already on a diet, and as we know, diets almost always fail . Throw Your Scales Away Don’t look at your scales for the first six months of your transformation! This goes hand in hand with being okay exactly as you are right now. It’s been my experience that the weight comes off in quantum leaps periodically. This means that you may be in plateaus for certain periods of time. If you weigh yourself every day, you can easily get discouraged during a plateau. But plateaus
