Savitri - Book Two - Canto 15

It figured in it a universe's sense. There consciousness was a close and single weft; The far and near were one in spirit-space, The moments there were pregnant with all time. The superconscient's screen was ripped by thought, Idea rotated symphonies of sight, Sight was a flame-throw from identity; Life was a marvellous journey of the spirit, Feeling a wave from the universal Bliss. In the kingdom of the Spirit's power and light, As if one who arrived out of infinity's womb He came new-born, infant and limitless And grew in the wisdom of the timeless Child; He was a vast that soon became a Sun. A great luminous silence whispered to his heart; His knowledge an inview caught unfathomable, An outview by no brief horizons cut: He thought and felt in all, his gaze had power. He communed with the Incommunicable; Beings of a wider consciousness were his friends, Forms of a larger subtler make drew near; The Gods conversed with him behind Life's veil. Neighbour his being grew to Nature's crests. The primal Energy took him in its arms; His brain was wrapped in overwhelming light, An all-embracing knowledge seized his heart: Thoughts rose in him no earthly mind can hold, Mights played that never coursed through mortal nerves: He scanned the secrets of the Overmind, He bore the rapture of the Oversoul.

Le corps y figurait le sens d’un univers. La conscience était là une trame continue, Le loin et le proche étaient un dans cet espace, Les instants étaient chargés du temps tout entier. L’écran du supraconscient était arraché Et l’idée faisait rouler des symphonies de vue Et la vue était une flamme d’identité ; La vie était une aventure de l’esprit, L’émotion une vague de la Félicité. Dans le pouvoir et la lumière de ce royaume, Comme si l’infinité l’avait engendré, Il naquit à nouveau, infant et illimité, Et grandit dans la sagesse du divin Enfant ; Il était un vaste qui devenait un Soleil. Un silence lumineux chuchotait à son cœur ; Sa connaissance saisissait l’insondable Et voyait par-delà tous les horizons : Il demeurait en tous, son regard était puissant. Il communiait avec l’Incommunicable ; Des êtres plus conscients étaient ses amis ; Des formes plus subtiles s’approchaient de lui ; Les Dieux conversaient avec lui derrière le voile. Des crêtes de la Nature il devint le voisin. L’Energie première le prit dans ses bras ; Son cerveau fut submergé par la lumière, Son coeur fut saisi par une entière connaissance : Des pensées l’habitaient que l’homme ne peut tenir, Des forces qui jamais n’ont vibré dans les mortels :

Il contemplait les secrets du Surmental, Il endurait l’extase de l’Ame des âmes.

A borderer of the empire of the Sun,

Un frontalier de l’empire du Soleil,
