USD Football 2007
Pioneer Football League athletic directors and coaches established the PFL honor roll as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules. 43 TOREROS NAMED TO 2006 PFL HONOR ROLL The USD football team placed 43 student-athletes on the 2006 Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2006 semester. The USD football team had eleven players named to the 2006 Pioneer Football League All-Aca– demic Teams. Led by Wes Doyle and Patrick O'Neill, who were both named ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-Americans, the Toreros placed five on the PFL First Team. Joining Doyle and O'Neill were Kyson Hawkins, Ben Hannula and Jordan Paopao. Hawkins joined Doyle and O'Neill on the District VIII ESP The Magazine Academic All-America team. Sec– ond team PFL members included Josh Brisco, Clayton Austin, Jon Polk, Christopher Gianelli, Chase McBride and Mark Cianciulli. Doyle, from Phoenix, Arizona, was a junior wide receiver who carries a 3.62 grade-point average as a Business Administration major. O'Neill, a sopho– more safety from Mission Viejo, California, owns a 3.80 grade-point average as a Business Administration major. Hannula, a sophomore receiver from Tacoma, Washington, carries a 3.56 gpa in Business Administra– tion. Paopao, a junior offensive center from Oceanside, California, owns a 3.08 gpa in Accounting. Hawkins, a senior linebacker from Fallbrook, California, carries a 3.66 gpa in Business Administration. PFL Second
Team members include Clayton Austin, a senior offensive lineman from Orange, California, who carries a 3.19 gpa in Accounting; Jon Polk, a senior fullback from Compton, Cali fornia, carries a 3.15 gpa in Political Science;Josh Brisco, a senior defensive back from Tucson, Arizona, owns a 3.0 gpa in Communications; Christopher Gianelli, a sophomore defensive lineman from Rancho Palos Verdes, California, carries a 3.46 gpa in Electrical Engin eering; Chase McBride, a senior defensive back from Solana Beach, California, owns a 3.26 gpa in Business Administration; and Mark Cianciulli, a junior return specialist from Corona del Mar, Cali fornia, carries a 3.57 gpa in Business/Real Estate.
