FALLOUT 4

Everything was all dandy and swell in Boston – until 23 October 2077, when somebody went and pressed the button. Yes, THAT button. A war over precious resources led to this nuclear holocaust, and your story begins on that very day. You take shelter in Vault 111, emerging 200 years later to a world that’s a shadow of its former self. The ‘you’ in question can be male or female, but either way it’s good to know that you’ll have a trusty companion on your travels, be it indestructible

German shepherd Dogmeat, robotic pal Mr Handy, or any of a selection of newcomers. It’s down to you to rebuild and determine the fate of the Wasteland, but it won’t be a walk in the park. You are SPECIAL though, with your set of attributes – ‘Strength’, ‘Perception’, ‘Endurance’, ‘Charisma’, ‘Intelligence’, ‘Agility’ and ‘Luck’ – combining to determine how you survive... or don’t! While the core action/RPG gameplay remains, and you’ll be doing a fair bit of fighting

(complete with funky new cinematic mode), your ability to craft stuff will certainly come into play. Thousands of items can be constructed, ranging from weapons and food up to entire settlements. Of course this is all wrapped up in a stunning now-gen graphics package. Nuclear destruction has never looked this peachy! If you liked this, you may also like.. . ADVENTURE TIME: FINN & JAKE INVESTIGATIONS

SHOVEL KNIGHT

GENRE: PLATFORMER PLATFORM: PS4 | PC | WIIU | 3DS RELEASE: 30/10/15 MULTIPLAYER: YES

GENRE: ACT/ADV PLATFORM: PS4 | PS3 | XB1 | 360 | 3DS RELEASE: 29/10/15 MULTIPLAYER: NO

Shenanigans are afoot in the Land of Ooo! Luckily those totally mathematical bros Finn the Human and Jake the Dog are around though, and even luckier they’ve decided to follow in the footsteps of their parents/guardians and get their detective skills happening. Most every favourite Adventure Time character will be encountered as you play your way through several separate but related episodes. This is one big adventure game – quite literally, as although it’s all pretty and 3D and stuff, there’s lots of questioning and searching and puzzling. But there’s also a bit of swordplay because, well, collecting the resulting treasure is cool. Duh!

If you miss the days of Super Nintendo and SEGA Mega Drive gaming, or pumping coins into a Ghouls ’n Ghosts arcade machine, then listen up. A genuine little indie game that could, Shovel Knight casts you as, obviously we guess, a knight with a shovel. Times aren’t so tough that he’s moonlighting in a graveyard though, rather he wields his titular garden tool to dig up treasure, as well as despatching all manner of marauding Order of No Quarter forces. It’s all in the name of love, for his quest is in hope of freeing his beloved Shield Knight. Ah, shovelry isn’t dead! Meanwhile, keep an eye out for the spade-tacular Shield Knight amiibo...
