Education Management Information System The Ohio Department of Education EMIS (Education Management Information System) office released an updated data collection calendar for the remainder of this school year. This calendar will require districts to complete and appeal many of the EMIS data collections approximately a week and a half earlier than in years past. Superintendents, as well as assessment and EMIS coordinators will need to pay close attention to these changes, to make sure staff are available during June and early July to complete the data submissions needed for the Report Card. • Several collections that would have closed on July 27 will now close on July 18, with the appeal windows for those collections now closing on the 27th instead of in early August. • To assist with workload planning, several collections that would have closed on July 27 will now close in August 10. Why is this change being made? • Starting this year, results for nearly all grade 3-8 and End of Course assessments will be available to districts the week of June 4th. This is approximately 4 weeks earlier than in years past. Taken together, districts will actually have more time than in years past to complete assessment reporting. • An improvement to the gap closing measures (including subgroup progress measures) requires additional time to calculate progress between the close of data submission and publishing of the report card. This change will only improve scores on the gap measures.
