Jim Stone, sports anchor for NBC 7/39 TV, is the new voice for Toreros' men's basketball beginning with the 2004-05 season, it was announced by Ky Snyder, Executive Director ofAthletics. Stone will announce every Torero men's basketball game this season, home and away, and will also call theaction for all USD home games televised by Channel 4 San Diego. The games that aren't televised, his play-by-play broadcast will be webcast via the internet at www.usdtoreros.com. Stone, who joined NBC 7/39 in March of 1990, has produced an award-winning career as a sportscaster with previous stops in Reno, Nevada; Springfield, Illinois and the Harrisburg-Lancaster market in Pennsylvania. "Jim Stone brings a wealth of experience and a high profile to USD Athletics and our men 's basketball program," stated Ky Snyder. "He paints a terrific word picture, he's the consummate professional, and he wants to help the USD program."

Jim Stone, Play-by-Play

Stone has an outstanding background in play-by-play announcing. In recent years he served as the play-by-play announcer of San Diego State football and basketball. Additionally, he has play– by-play experience from his days with the San Diego Sockers and the University of Nevada. He still has fond memories of calling the annual Blue-White scrimmage at Penn State with Joe Paterno. He is also the voice of the CIF championships, when those high school football and bas– ketball title games are televised locally on Channel 4 San Diego. His extensive resume also includes past television games for USD men 's and women 's basketball. "I'm really looking forward to working with Brad Holland and his players," said Jim Stone. "I' ve always been a great admirer of his teams from afar." The San Diego Press Club has honored Stone in the past for his work as a sports reporter. He also has won numerous Golden Mike Awards. He was twice named Nevada's Sportscaster of the Year by the National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters. He also has earned the As– sociated Press award as Central Pennsylvania's Top Sportscaster. Added Stone, "This is a win-win deal for both myself and USD. I'm back calling games in the city I love for a program that has a chance to really make a mark." Jim and his wife Jill , who reside in Rancho Bernardo, have two grown kids - Mindy & Zach.

Jim Brogan, Analyst Jim Brogan returns for his 6th season as color analyst for Torero men's basketball. Brogan is a former NBA player with the Golden State Warriors (1980) and San Diego Clippers (1981-83). He is a 1980 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College where he earned degrees in Business and Psychology. Jim is President of Jim Brogan Incorporated, based in San Diego. With his company, Jim 's 10 Steps To Success Program is an exciting new approach to teaching and inspiring children ages 10-16 to choose success now and throughout their lives. For over a decade, Jim Brogan has successfully influenced thousands of young people in determining and ultimately achieving their academic and personal goals with his uniquely effective 10 Steps To Success Program. He also travels across the U.S. as a keynote speaker to corporations, companies and businesses talking about his program and how it can help give today 's youth the proper tools to make them successful and future leaders. Additionally, since 1985, he has run the Jim Brogan Basketball Academy. He has developed a very unique way of teaching basketball and life skills to children of various ages to develop strong well-rounded individuals on and off the court. In 1988, with the U.S. Olympic Committee, he published a book titled, "Inspiring Others To Win. " He is the President of the Pitch It Forward Foundation.
