OVERVIEW Our foundation degree in Computing will allow you to develop highly sought-after industry-specific skills, through the investigation of modern computing environments and an examination of the hardware/software used extensively in today’s rapidly changing technological world. During the degree, you will develop skills needed by industry, including programming concepts, web design, database development and network server administration. Throughout the course your knowledge of theory will be applied in practical situations to help you develop systems to meet commercial requirements. Through a professional work placement you will draw substantially on the material and skills developed during the course, allowing you to demonstrate your understanding of professional practice and business ethics in a real work environment. • Opportunity to undertake an industry placement allowing you to demonstrate your understanding of professional codes of practice and business ethics in a real work environment. • Jobs in Computing and IT will become increasingly more important in all industries and has a 9.7% predicted growth in jobs by 2020 (Emsi Career Coach, May 2017). • Excellent progression opportunities in employment or further study in computing at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
