WHAT WILL I STUDY?

YEAR 1

YEAR 2

In the first year, you will develop skills in maths and problem solving. You will explore hardware and networks and systems analysis and design. You will also gain knowledge in dynamic web and media, alongside programming concepts. You will gain an understanding of digital information representation and practical experience of the key elements of an operating system while developing your professional communication, digital skills and an understanding of the information requirements of a computer-based information system. Modules include: • Structured Programming using C++ • Problem Solving • Computer Technology • Web Application Development • Systems Analysis & Design • Practitioner Skills

The second year will develop your knowledge further in a range of different areas of computing. You will continue to develop your ability to analyse information systems requirements within the framework of an Agile software development method. Your confidence to research Human- computer interaction (HCI) topics for yourself will be enhanced. You will also begin to appreciate the features of Structured Query Language (SQL). You will familiarise yourself with Fourth-generation programming language (4GL) Relational Database systems in practice and use this technology to develop an information system to meet clients’ needs. The placement opportunity will give you an opportunity to work independently and to show initiative. Modules include: • Java & the Internet • Rapid Application Development • HCI (Human Computer Interaction) • Database Systems • Dynamic Web Design • Work Placement
