HOWWILL I STUDY?

CAREERS AND PROGRESSION

Learning will be through theoretical and practical lectures, workshops, seminars, group work, practical based sessions and presentations.

Students who successfully complete this foundation degree will have knowledge and skills relevant to a huge number of career paths which will allow you to immediately operate at a professional level within the IT sector across various industries. With an extensive curriculum, there will be particular emphasis placed on the application of a range of current and professional skills in order to meet and support the needs of the rapidly expanding e-business sector. Students can expect to graduate with the appropriate skills needed to seek employment within the computing industry and its associated areas. As well as providing a platform for entry into the computing industry, this course also offers the opportunity to progress onto the third year of the BSc (Hons) in Computing at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston to top-up your qualification. Alternatively, if you want to specialise in specific area of computing then you could progress onto the 2nd year of the BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development/Forensic Computing/Computer Network Technology/Software Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

HOWWILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment takes place through coursework which may consist of a combination of group work, seminar presentations, practical computer based projects, or written reports. Some modules also have a formal examination as part of the assessment.

FdSc COMPUTING

WHO WILL BE TEACHING ME?

You will be taught by staff who are passionate about student learning and development. They are experienced in a wide range of areas in IT and computing. Lecturers are active researchers in their fields and have extensive industry experience.
