YEAR 1

The second year extends and builds upon your technical knowledge and understanding of digital equipment and production systems. Your employability will be enhanced through the completion of work-based activities. The exploration and understanding of audio file formats and codecs underpins the development of skills in studio recording, mixing techniques and synthesising acoustic environments. The application and implementation of advanced post-production techniques will introduce you to compositing principles and theories that allow for the experimentation in colour correction and synchronising audio. You will also gain an understanding of the application of radio production structures, genres, writing and interviewing skills for effective radio production. Modules include: • Professional Practice • Radio Production • Video Production and Technology • Sound Design and Production • Video Post-Production • Graphic Communication making and broadcasting by exploring programme

The first year provides a solid introduction into media production, including the terminology and concepts associated with audio signals, along with equipment for use in both the studio and for live events for application across a multitude of digital outlets. You will be introduced to the application of graphics within media production and the philosophy of the creative thought process and visual literacy, exploring a series of projects which engage in the creative pipeline from idea generation and development, through to a completed product. In addition, you will develop multidisciplinary skills and edit a range of media types including digital imagery and audio for use in multimedia projects. Video production, and editing skills and practises are covered with the processes involved in single-camera filmmaking, alongside the creative skills required to produce short programmes for a variety of media outlets. Modules include: • Interactive Media Production • Computer Graphics • Basic Media Production • Video Production • Creative and Technical Development
