HOWWILL I STUDY?

WHO WILL BE TEACHING ME?

Teaching takes place in first- class media facilities with a state-of-the-art TV studio equipped with an infinity cove suitable for virtual filming. The variety of teaching approaches used within the course includes lectures, seminars, group discussions, presentations, practical activities, workshops and guest speakers. Student centred learning is also strongly promoted and lecturers encourage students to become independent learners. A variety of practical based assessment designed to equip you for the industry will be used throughout the course. These will include a personal and professional development portfolio, record logs, presentations and pitches to ‘clients’, short essays/ written records, group and individual projects, and a variety of product creation and production. The formal assessments are designed to provide valid opportunities to engage with practical industry standard and related production projects that will help to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and understanding in preparation for work in the sector. You will be taught by an experienced team with a wide range of interests reflecting all areas of media theory and practice. Staff have a wealth of experience in both education and the industry, each with a different specialist area within media.

CAREERS AND PROGRESSION

Upon completion of the foundation degree, you will have developed skills to a professional standard for a whole host of career

opportunities in pre-production, production and post-production within the audio and video industries. Career opportunities could include roles such as camera operator, editor, sound assistant, director and more. You will also have acquired the skills necessary to begin a freelance career in either filmmaking or audio production.
