WHAT WILL I STUDY?

YEAR 1

You will link theory and practice through undertaking a 60-hour placement and project. You will also have the opportunity to develop your independent study and learning skills through an extended piece of academic work involving substantial research, planning and analysis. You will explore how to analyse and evaluate the application of social policy in relation to criminal justice. Problems and issues in the wider context of ‘community’, and with reference to concepts such as social capital and multiculturalism will also be explored. Additionally, you will link the study of social policy issues with an understanding of models of politics and theories of democracy, and with an examination of practical ethics and contemporary issues. Modules include: • Work Placement • Dissertation/Research Project • Social Policy and Criminal Justice • Contemporary Community Issues • Politics, Ethics and Democracy
