WHO WILL BE TEACHING ME?

The BA (Hons) Social Policy, Health and Housing (Top-up) degree receives additional validation from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). This is in recognition that the degree supports the housing profession. All students studying for the degree are entitled to apply for free student membership of the CIH. This allows students to access a range of CIH resources and services that are of great assistance to academic study and provide an introduction to this professional body. CIH student membership allows students to access up-to-date information and advice on policy issues and best practice and to boost professional skills. Learning will be theoretical and practical through lectures, workshops, seminars, self- directed study, written work, presentations, group work and guest lectures. In addition to classroom-based study, you will also have the opportunity to observe social policies in practice by visiting local authorities, housing associations and social welfare agencies. HOWWILL I STUDY?

Our experienced and knowledgeable staff take pride in the quality of their teaching. An experienced team with a wide range of interests reflecting all areas of social policy, health and housing will work with you. Lecturers are active researchers in their field and have experience of working in industry. In addition, visiting speakers assist in the delivery of the degree, often providing novel approaches to, or presenting unique aspects of, particular subjects. Students who successfully complete the BA (Hons) Social Policy, Health and Housing degree will have developed a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social policy, health and housing. It’s a good avenue for entry into the workplace, career progression and a good means of exploring different career possibilities. Previous students have progressed in careers within local authorities, social welfare agencies, housing associations and healthcare organisations. Graduates can use the BA (Hons) Social Policy, Health and Housing degree as a route to postgraduate study including teacher training CAREERS AND PROGRESSION
