SOLICITORS' ANNUAL CERTIFICATES. Members are reminded that Annual Certi ficates for the year ending 5th January, 1937, should be taken out and the duties paid thereon before 6th February, 1936. MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. 5th December. Twenty-eight members present. Election of President and Viee-Presidents. The Council elected Mr. Michael E. Knight to be President of the Society, and Mr. Edward J. Mallins and Mr. John B. Hamill, to be Vice-Presidents, for the ensuing twelve months. Extra-Ordinary Members. A letter was read from the Southern Law Association giving the names of the following members as those elected as Extra-ordinary Members of this Council -for the ensuing twelve months:—Mr. Frederick H. Hall (President), Mr. B. St. J. Galvin, Mr. J. J. Horgan, Mr. E. Emerson, and Mr. P. J. Kavanagh. Circuit Court Witnesses' Expenses. A letter from a country member in reference to the mode of the measuring and awarding of witnesses' expenses was referred to the Circuit Courts Committee for con sideration. The practice in this matter would not appear to be uniform throughout the Circuit Courts of the Free State.

12th December. Eighteen members present. Statutory Committee.

A letter was read from the Chief Justice appointing the following members of the Council to be the Statutory Committee for the year ending 26th November, 1936 :— Mr. Knight, Mr. Bradley, Mr. Duggan, Mr. Laverty, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Scales, and Mr. Thompson. Conveyancing. A letter from a member in reference to a conveyancing matter of general interest was referred to the Privileges Committee. Committees and Court of Examiners. The Committees of the Council and the Court of Examiners for the year ending 26th November, 1936, were appointed.

THE INCORPORATED LAW SOCIETY OF NORTHERN IRELAND. Mr. Robert V. Hamilton has been elected President of the Society for 1935-36.

THE SOUTHERN LAW ASSOCIATION. Mr. Frederick H. Hall, has been elected President of the Association for 1935-36.
