MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

OBITUARY. MR. KEITH H. HALLOWES, Solicitor, died on the 5th March, 1936, at Dublin. Mr. Hallowes served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Keith Hallowes, Dublin ; was admitted in Hilary Term, 1866, and practised at 8 Westland Row, Dublin, up to 1913, when he retired. MR. RAYMOND FRENCH, Solicitor, died on the 10th March, 1936, at his residence, 20 Northbrook Road, Dublin. Mr. French served his apprenticeship with Mr. Weldon C. Molony, Dublin; was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1896, and practised under the style of Bowles and French, at 32 Nassau Street, Dublin. Since the year 1923 Mr. French rendered valuable services to the Society by acting annually as one of the scrutineers of the ballot for the election of the Council. CALENDAR The Calendar of the Society for 1936 can be obtained in the Secretary's office. Price five shillings; by post, five shillings and sixpence.

The new practice of requiring attendance at the Central Office and at Local Registries to get return of documents lodged was under discussion, and it was decided that repre sentations to the Chief Registrar be made on the matter. Insurance Bill, 1935. It was referred to the Parliamentary Com mittee to take action in reference to amend ments to this Bill of which notice had been given, and which would appear to be injurious to the interests of members of the profession. Registration of Judgments. Proposals in reference to amendments of the laws regulating registration of Circuit Court judgments were under discussion. Law Books. A report from a Special Committee of the Council on the question of the steps to be taken for securing the publication of law books for use in the Irish Free State was submitted, and the matter was referred back to the Committee to take further action.
