MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

Twenty-three Members present. Judgment Mortgages on Registered Lands. A report was submitted from a special committee appointed to consider and report whether some quicker and less expensive procedure than that now existing, for the registration of judgment mortgages against registered land, could be provided. It was resolved to request the Minister for Justice to have rules made under the Local Registra– tion (Ireland) Act, 1891, for the purpose indicated. Commissioners for Oaths. A letter from a member, submitting to the Council for its opinion a question relating to the duties of Commissioners for Oaths, was referred to the Privileges Committee for report. ____ OBITUARY. MR. JOHN HOY, Solicitor, died on the 4th April, 1934, at his residence, 37 St. Lawrence Road, Dublin. Mr. Hoy was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1892, and practised at Dungannon (in partnership with his son, Mr. Bernard B. Hoy) up to 1933, when he retired. MR. WILLIAM H. FOWLER, Solicitor, Newry, died on the 10th April, 1934, at his residence, Laurel Lodge, Newry."'

MR. THOMAS M. GERRARD, Solicitor, died on the 12th April, 1934, at Dublin. Mr. Gerrard served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Charles Daly, Dublin; was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1895, and practised as a member of the firm of Thomas Gerrard & Co., 25 Westmoreland Street, Dublin. MR. ARCHIBALD S. McCov, Solicitor, died on the 13th April, 1934, at his residence, " Leoville," Waterford. Mr., McCoy was admitted in Trinity Term, 1875, and practised under the style of Dobbyn & McCoy, at Waterford. MR. JOHN A. KENNEDY, Solicitor, died on the 28th April, 1934, at Killenaule. Mr. Kennedy was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1891, and practised at Killenaule.

APPOINTMENT. Mr. John M. Mark, Solicitor, London– derry, has been appointed a Resident Magistrate for Northern Ireland.
