Discussion

Reposition tasks anywhere in your project schedule by dragging a task to a new location. It is best to move tasks before they are linked to other tasks. If a task is linked to another task, Microsoft Project attempts to maintain the link.

NOTE On the Task tab in the Clipboard group, use Cut and Paste or Copy and Paste to move tasks. If you are moving a linked task and you do not want to maintain links in the new task sequence, unlink the task before moving it, then link it after the move.

Procedures

1. Switch to the Gantt Chart view. 2. Select the ID number for the row containing the task you want to move. 3. Drag the task ID number to the new position.

Step-by-Step

Move a task.
