3. In the Schedule group, click the Link Tasks button. The summary tasks are linked.

Practice the Concept: Link the 10 Build Foundation and 13 Construct Frame summary tasks. Link a summary task to a task in another phase by linking the 1 Planning Phase summary task to the 9 Build Structure task.

Hide the 9 Build Structure and 17 Build Infrastructure subtasks. Scroll as necessary to view the link line between the summary tasks. Redisplay the subtasks for both summary tasks.

Open Housprj2 . Select the 1 Planning Phase task through the 21 Drywall task and create a Finish-to-Start relationship between the tasks. Scroll the Gantt chart and notice that the end of the Planning Phase summary task is linked to the start of the Build Structure summary task. None of the individual Planning Phase subtasks are linked to Build Structure subtasks. Close Housprj2 without saving the changes.

Discussion

After linking tasks, you may decide to unlink them later. When you unlink tasks, the relationship between them is deleted. You may need to unlink tasks that no longer depend on one another or that you want to link to different tasks.



Procedures

1. Switch to the Gantt Chart view. 2. Select the tasks you want to unlink.

3. Click the Unlink Tasks button .


