National President’s Message

Dear Ruritan family and guests, first timer’s, other Ruritan family members, “ Welcome to Hampton, Virginia! ” First Lady Linda and I are so happy that you decided to join us at your convention. As most of you know this is the 90 th year of Ruritan National and the 88 th Ruritan National Convention. We will all be involved with

taking care of the official business of Ruritan while honoring our veterans and showing respect for the state flags and our National flag. We will also be honoring our faith in God and celebrating the many successes of Ruritan that took place during 2018. Linda and I hope that you will see some of your old friends and make some new ones. You will hopefully meet your National officers and see the installation of the newly elected officers. Please try to participate in as many planned activities as possible and we encourage you to take advantage of the many workshops being offered. We all should extend a warm welcome to all of the First Timers. May this first time experience be so meaningful to you that you will come back again and again. Each year is a new learning experience, one that we hope you will enjoy forever. If any of you “old timer’s” see someone wearing a green ribbon, please make them feel welcome by stopping and talking with them. Ask them about their convention experiences so you can help us have a better one in following years and they may want to attend future conventions because someone listened to what they suggested.

4 2019 Commemorative Program

Your Convention Committee and National Office Staff have worked very hard to present you with the very best convention that our budget could provide. No one knows how much dedication the National Office gives in support of your National Convention. Please thank them for all of the help that they gave to make this a wonderful convention for you. Linda and I also want to thank all of you for giving us the opportunity to serve as your National President and First Lady. While visiting the many clubs this year, we have seen and heard about the many fundraising activities that the various clubs have participated in and the many activities that you have supported with those funds. No other organization gives back to their local communities like the Ruritan clubs do. May God continue to bless Ruritan and all that we do within our communities. Ruritan’s share because we care. 2018 National President Clinton “Guy” and First Lady Linda Cox

Delegates properly credentialed at the Ruritan National Convention will have the option of voting from their hotel room or some other remote site. During the time for voting (Friday, January 18, from 2:00 p.m. through Saturday, January 19, 10:00 a.m.), each delegate will have to enter a delegate code (assigned at registration) to allow for one voting session per delegate. This should considerably reduce the lines for voting and allow a delegate more freedom for other activities. Instructions for remote voting will be provided when you are certified. The Voting room (Room 102, on the First Floor) will be open on Friday from 2 - 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 - 10 a.m. for those that wish to come and vote in person.
