St Andrew’s Pangbourne ST ANDREW’S is a leading co- educational day and boarding

report, which was written in March 2017, highlighted and praised the school’s successes both inside and outside of the classroom; recognising very high standards in subject teaching and significant achievements in music, sport and the arts as well as celebrating the diverse range of extra-curricular opportunities available to pupils. ‘Pupils of all abilities make rapid progress in lessons as a result of skilful and knowledgeable teaching’ – ISI report. Consistent with the last inspection report, pastoral care was deemed to be of the very highest calibre with pupils’ moral development described as outstanding. The school met all required standards of compliance across all areas. ‘Pupils of all ages demonstrate excellent attitudes towards their

school for 300 pupils aged three to 13, set in 54 acres of glorious Berkshire woodland. St Andrew’s encourages an all- round and forward thinking education, which prepares children to become positive contributors to life. The recent Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) inspection

in November 2012. St Andrew’s are excited to be partnering with SportsAble, an award-winning charity who specialise in disability sport and who will be using the new sports centre to encourage disabled people to take part in sporting activities. In preparation for this partnership, every St Andrew’s pupil and members of staff recently took part in a series of sensory deprivation sporting challenges where children as young as three experienced what it might be like to participate in sport with a disability. The challenges included blind long jump and wheelchair basketball as well as blindfold football. The event had two important aims – the first was designed to help the pupils to truly understand about diversity, helping them to experience life

seek higher things’.’ October 2017 marks an important date in both the school’s calendar and history as St Andrew’s prepares to open its state-of-the- art sports centre. The sports centre will house a hall large enough for a full-size tennis court, netball court, four badminton courts or a five-a-side football pitch and will have four retractable cricket nets. There will also be a 25m indoor pool with four lanes and with wet changing rooms for boys and girls. The full-height foyer entrance will boast a climbing wall. A lift and stairs will give access to the second floor, where there is a smaller hall for dance and ballet classes and a range of other activities. The sports centre will be located adjacent to the full-size artificial pitch, which was opened by past pupil The Duchess of Cambridge

with a disability and thus to understand, respect and celebrate people’s differences and similarities and, secondly, all funds that were raised from the event have been used to purchase a special mobile hoist to enable disabled access into the indoor pool.
