Hi! Fashion... The Global Language of Fashion - Dublin
Hosted in the imposing surroundings of Farmleigh House and Estate in Dublin, Hi! Fashion is a colourful exhibition exploring and celebrating the commonalities in fashion design between Ireland and another island nation, Japan. The exhibition of garments and accessories highlights mutual influences stemming from a deep appreciation for strong cultural heritage based on literature, nature, craft and tradition. The work of significant Irish designers features; John Rocha, recognised as one of Ireland's leading designers; Lainey Keogh who changed the face of Irish knitwear; rising international star Richard Malone and Una Burke, whose designs have been worn by Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Daphne Guinness. Influential Japanese designers include; Kansai Yamamoto, designer of David Bowie's costumes during the 1970s; milliner Maiko Takeda, favoured by the singer Björk; visionaries such as Issey Miyake, together with innovative contemporary makers like Anrealage and Noritaka Tatehana.
Hi! Fashion runs until the 29th of April 2018 at Farmleigh Gallery, Dublin, Ireland.
