Wikingerdorf FLAKE Filmkulisse am Walchensee

Im Ort Walchensee, am Ufer des gleichnami- gen Sees, ließ Michael »Bully« Herbig 2008 die Handlung aus dem Kinderbuch »Wickie und die starken Männer« verfilmen. Die Kulissenbauer haben für diese Produktion ein komplett neues Dorf erbaut. Dieses steht nach wie vor an der- selben Stelle und ist für jeden frei zugänglich. Neben den Hütten aus Wickies Heimatdorf gibt es auf dem Gelände auch eine Ausstellung über die Wikinger und deren Geschichte zu besuchen. Die malerische Kulisse des Wal- chensees, die bei so manchem Fjordländer Heimweh auslöst, hatte schon früher eine große Anziehungskraft auf Leinwand-Wikin- ger. Bereits 1958 hat Kirk Douglas an diesem naturbelassenen See als Kino-Wikinger geraubt und gebrandschatzt. Und auch im Jahr darauf war Christopher Lee in »Tales of the Vikings« auf dem See in den bayerischen Alpen unterwegs. FLAKE Viking village - film set on the Walchensee. It was on the banks of the Walchensee, in the town of the same name, that Michael »Bully« Herbig shot his adaptation of the children's book »Vicke the Viking« in 2008. For the set, his team built an entire village from scratch, which still stands exactly where it did and is now open to the public. Alongside the origi- nal huts from Vicke's village, the site also features an exhibition on the Vikings. The Walchensee's pictures- que backdrop, enough to make any Scandinavian homesick, has always held great an attraction for cinematic Vikings. As far back as 1958, Kirk Douglas was already raiding and pillaging around the un- spoilt lake as an on-screen Viking. And the following year also saw Christopher Lee set out across this Bavarian alpine lake in »Tales of the Vikings«.
