ZOMBIE ARMY TRILOGY

BLOODBORNE

GENRE: FPS PLATFORM: PS4 | XB1 RELEASE: 06/03/15 MULTIPLAYER: YES

GENRE: ACT/ADV PLATFORM: PS4 RELEASE: 25/03/15 MULTIPLAYER: YES

Pirates? Nope. Ninjas? Nup. Robots? Nuh-uh. Zombies? Yep! There’s no escaping the living dead – well, unless you can run really bloody fas- erm, walk at a decent clip. Well, that’s usually the case, but in this instance you have very good reason to hang around and destroy the shambling hordes, for they’re Nazi super-soldier zombies! It all takes place in an alternate WWII scenario, where you go it alone or with up to three other soldiers having a ball foiling Hitler’s malevolent plans... A compilation of two previously released DLC packs for third-person shooter Sniper Elite and a shiny new one, tactics are very much to the fore – as is something which rhymes with that: gore. But when it’s the innards of zombified Nazi scum being forensically revealed, you can revel in it with impunity.

The latest action-RPG from the bloke behind From Software’s Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. That’s probably all that we need to write to have any fan of the most challenging, punishing, frustrating and blissfully brilliant games the genre has ever seen drooling uncontrollably. So we’re going to nick off to the pub now... Or not. The boss just saw us. Damn! So, what more can we say? Well, fans of From’s previous outings will feel at home in this world of plague and monsters. Tweaks to the successful formula have been made without sacrifices – in particular you can regain small amounts of health by taking an offensive approach to enemies, rather than going all softly, softly. Something fans won’t be doing on release day – oh, and it’s PS4 only, so if you haven’t done yourself the favour, now might be the time...

FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD

GRAND THEFT AUTO V

GENRE: RPG PLATFORM: PS4 | XB1 RELEASE: 19/03/15 MULTIPLAYER: YES

GENRE: ACT/ADV PLATFORM: PC RELEASE: 14/04/15 MULTIPLAYER: YES

Over many years now, the Final Fantasy action-RPG universe has expanded to the point where you almost need a GPS to get to grips with getting around (there’s a free business idea, TomTom). Anyway, this time we return to 2011’s PSP-only release, Type-0 , but it’s now looking very pretty indeed, having been given an HD makeover. If you played that you’ll feel at home, although the multiplayer component has been excised in favour of tweaked difficulty levels. It all takes place in the year 842, when the Militesi Empire unscrupulously invades the Dominion of Rubrum. Cue the rise of the Vermilion Bird, and 14 brave young warriors – they’re you, they are. Yes, you control all 14 members of Class Zero, and the fate of the world and its four crystals rests in your 28 hands.

Possibly the most shameful, headline-hogging game series ever brings its abject depravity to the new consoles! Ban this sick stunt! Oops, sorry, we got caught up in all the ridiculous, unfounded scaremongering that’s surrounded the Grand Theft Auto series pretty much since its inception. While GTA V has been around for a while, scooping all of 2013’s ‘Game of the Year’ awards that The Last of Us didn’t, it finally comes to PC bulging with extra stuff – sideways around a corner in a squeal of tyres, of course. What sort of extra stuff? New weapons, vehicles, songs, activities, missions, graphical enhancements, weather and more. Crazed open world gangster action doesn’t come any slicker than GTA, and it just got slicker. This’ll keep the kids off the streets...
