Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good

 The nursery is managed well with priorities for improvement clearly identified. Managers continually listen to and reflect upon the opinions of others as part of this process.  All groups of children make good progress towards the early learning goals. Staff speak with parents and decide together how best they can support children's learning and development.  Staff manage children's behaviour in a calm and positive way. They praise the behaviour that they want and this helps children to understand what is expected of them. Children are also motivated by staff who encourage them to 'have a go' and keep on trying.  The teaching of key skills is highly effective. For example, in mathematics older children learn to count, recognise, order and write numbers during short, focused group activities led by their key person.  Children are well supported to keep themselves safe and healthy. Balanced, nutritious foods are provided and children enjoy regular fresh air and exercise.

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Sometimes, staff caring for the younger children intervene too soon during play and learning. This means that children's own ideas are not always fully explored.  Continued professional development opportunities are not yet sufficiently focused on raising the quality of teaching to the highest level possible.
