Galápagos Adventure EXPLORING THE EASTERN ISLANDS OF THE GALÁPAGOS

Darwin’s Galápagos Islands are a wonder to explore—the exotic wildlife here has no fear of humans, and you’ll hike (and snorkel or kayak) right alongside these extraordinary creatures! We’ve created the ideal way to experience the Galápagos—aboard the Mary

Bay, where red-footed boobies perch on the mangroves. Hiking up the Prince Philip Steps, we seek out red-billed tropicbirds. Great frigatebirds are also seen here, while elegant swallow-tailed gulls rest under the salt bush. Our hike to the summit of Bartolomé gives us magnificent views of Pinnacle Rock, Galápagos’ famous rock spire, and we’ll dip into the water to snorkel with tiny Galápagos penguins. Days 5-6 Rábida / Santa Cruz / Darwin Research Station On volcanic Rábida Island, we explore a flamingo lagoon and hike past Darwin’s finches, Galápagos mockingbirds, and yellow warblers on the trail as marine iguanas bask in sea caves. In the Santa Cruz highlands, we hike to find giant tortoises in the wild and visit the Darwin Station tortoise- breeding facility. Days 7-10 South Plaza / Santa Fé / Española South Plaza Island captivates with its black-lava shoreline and copper-colored land iguanas. On Santa Fé Island, we look for a special species of land iguana found only on this island. Española Island is the spot for nesting waved albatrosses between May and December, and we follow flipper prints as we walk on a white-sand beach to find lounging sea lions. We’ll keep an eye out for Galápagos hawks, Galápagos doves, and Hood mockingbirds, endemic to the island. Fly to Guayaquil for a final overnight, and depart on Day 10.
