Days 3-6 Inca Trail We explore Ollantaytambo, where the rebel Inca Manco held off Pizarro and his men in 1536, then begin our hike across the ancient royal highway to Machu Picchu. We’ve designed a special five-day route that provides for shorter hiking days and optimum acclimatization. On the first two nights, we stay at our own private campsites with full amenities—one even has a sauna! Our on-the-trail cuisine is unmatched, and our well-paced hiking days give you plenty of time to explore the archaeological sites along the route and fully experience the wonder of this legendary path. And, importantly, we time our daily hiking schedule so that the majority of other hikers are either far ahead or far behind us each day—our trip members often comment on the magic of having the Inca Trail to themselves!
