2019 Wilderness Travel Catalog of Adventures

Safari adventures in two countries—Botswana and Zimbabwe—for up-close game viewing, atmospheric camps, unique safari activities, and the wonder of Victoria Falls. GASTON PICCINETTI

The Great Elephant Migration FROM BOTSWANA TO ZIMBABWE, PLUS VICTORIA FALLS

Two hundred thousand elephants migrate across the wild trans-frontier corridor between Botswana’s Chobe National Park and Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park each year, and we’ve timed our safari for the height of their great journey. We bring you to a remote camp in the northern stretches of Chobe National Park, where our lodge’s waterhole is a magnet for thirsty pachyderms as well as Cape buffalo, antelope, giraffe, and lion. At remote Jozibanini, we can sleep under the stars, nestled on the viewing decks of our raised tents. Our safari activities are as unique as our lodgings as we explore on foot, by 4WD vehicle, canoe, and from an underground “look up” hide for incredible photo opportunities. We’ll finish in style with a spectacular charter flight and a stay in our 5-star lodge at mighty Victoria Falls. Days 1-2 Kasane / Camp Kuzuma / Chobe National Park, Botswana Heading right to our beautiful safari camp in Kazuma Forest Reserve, we are in the world’s busiest elephant corridor, but we’ll also be on the lookout for leopard, lion, spotted hyena, jackal, giraffe,

Cape buffalo, roan antelope, and sable. Night drives with spotlights give us a look at the nocturnal wildlife. Days 3-5 Nehimba Lodge / Northern Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe All of Hwange’s famous wildlife is within easy reach from our lodge, set around a waterhole where a multitude of animals gather. We explore by 4WD vehicle, on game walks, and on night drives in this game-rich land. Days 6-8 Jozibanini Camp / Southern Hwange National Park At Jozibanini, guided game walks let us track the special species of southern Hwange, including the African painted dog. At our camp’s unique viewing blind, below ground level, we’ll see elephants from close range and at a unique angle—the photo opportunities are amazing! We can also explore by mountain bike (optional), an extraordinary way to experience the landscape and the wildlife. Days 9-11 Zambezi Sands River Camp / Zambezi National Park Flying to Victoria Falls, we stay at Zambezi Sands River Camp, set on the Zambezi River, for a canoe safari and a fantastic morning hike to view the Falls. Options include a thrilling helicopter flight at additional cost. Depart on Day 11.
