Carolyn Greer, Associate Dir. ofAthletics/Sports Medicine Carolyn Greer enters her twenty-ninth year as the Head Athletic Trainer for the University of San Diego athletic department. Three years ago she was promoted to the position of Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine. She is assisted by Suzi Higgins, Paul Signorelli and Wil Filamor. Two years ago Carolyn was named the 2005 Thomas F. Burke Employee of the Year for the Student Affairs Division. Over the years she has taught Sports Medicine classes at San Diego State University, as well as presented at professional meetings. She oversees seventeen intercollegiate teams and 400 1!~:i=~~-~ USO student-athletes. The Sports Medicine staff provides injury prevention , immediate care, and reha- 11 -••~•..::
bilitation for USD's intercollegiate athletes, as well as covering the intercollegiate events. As an Adjunct Professor for San Diego State University, she participates in the clinical education of athletic training students. A 1975 graduate of San Diego State University, Carolyn was certified as an Athletic Trainer and went on to earn her Master's Degree in Sports Medicine. Carolyn , and her husband Jeff, reside in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego with their two boys, David Uunior at USO) and Jason (freshman at USO). John Martin has been a member of the USO athletic staff since 1975. He was the school's first head women 's volleyball coach, a post he held through the 1989 season, and also oversaw the Recreation Department. As volleyball coach , he directed theToreros to three postseason appearances, including a 4th place finish at the 1976 AIAW Nationals. As Associate AD for Facilities & Operations, Martin oversees all the scheduling , field mainte– nance and purchasing. He was the department's key liason during the construction of the Jenny Craig Pavilion which opened in October, 2000. A graduate of San Diego State (B.A. & M.A. in History), John resides in Encinitas with his wife Jane. They have two children: Eliza, a 2001 graduate of USO, and son, Patrick, a 2006 graduate of Ted Gosen, Associate Director ofAthletics/Media Relations Ted Gosen, Associate Director of Athletics for Media Relations, is in his 26th year. He oversees all public relations activities, publications, athletic website and information services for the athletic department, in addition to hosting the media at USO events. He is assisted by Chris Loucks and Ryan McCann. In 1981 Ted received his Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami , Florida. A 1979 graduate of San Jose State University, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. In addition to his SID duties, Ted is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA); a member of USD's Athletic Hall of Fame Committee; and teaches a bowling class through the USO recreation department. Ted and his wife Terri , a 1983 USO graduate, reside in Poway with their four daughters: Katie (sophomore
