In addition to the normal stalls of fresh, local produce, there will be new stalls with a festive feel, with gifts, food and decorations on offer. Mulled wine can be sipped and mince pies munched while browsing the stalls or listing to the jolly Christmas tunes played by The Lost Keys to get you in the Christmas spirit. On Sunday, December 9, there is a carol service at the Methodist Church, Silchester led by the Rev Ruth Midcalf and accompanied by Hannington Band. Sandham Memorial Chapel is holding a Christmas Service on December 12, with local handbell ringers, between 11am and 12noon. This is a free event and there is no need to book, but bear in mind the chapel is small so space is limited. There is another carol service in Silchester at St Mary’s church on Sunday, December 16 at 4pm. On December 18 you can return to Highclere Castle for the Carols and Christmas Magic event between 6pm and 8.30pm. This is an evening of castle tours, canapés and champagne to raise money for the RAF100 Appeal. The evening will end with entertainment by carol singers. Tickets are £120 per person and suits and cocktail dresses are expected. More information on the High- clere Castle website. The final event, on Christmas Day itself, is at the Ambrose Allen Centre, Tadley . At 10.30am there is a Christmas service, followed at noon by a free Christmas dinner. CHRISTMAS is kicking off in North West Hampshire on November 24 with the Christ- mas Market at Kingsclere Village Club. The market runs from 6pm to 8.30pm and will have an array of unique gifts, mince pies and plenty of Christmas cheer. The Woolton Hill Village Market will also be held on November 24, between 10am and 1pm. On the same day, the Magical Christmas Adventure opens at the Four Kingdoms Adventure Park, Headley. Follow Olly the snowman on his journey to deliver his letter to Santa ina two-hour character-led storytelling interactive theatre adventure full of elves, Eskimos and magical animals. Prices start at £20.95 for chil- dren and £12.50 for adults. A mystery celebrity will switch on the Tadley Christmas lights on November 30. The evening will start at 6pm at the Ambrose Allen Centre with the Christmas market. Entertain- ment will be provided by the Tadley Band and the Tadley and Hurst Singers. The lights will be switched on at 7pm and this will be followed by a magical visit from the main man himself – Father Christmas. The Point will be serving a selection of hot snacks and drinks including burgers, hot dogs and mulled wine. As December arrives, the Christmas preparations ramp up a notch, start on Saturday, Decem- ber 1 with the Silchester Christ- mas Dance at the Village Hall to raise money for the hall. The festivities start at 7.30pm and tickets are £18 each.

The following day, December 2, two Christingle Services will be held at 3.30pm at Highclere Parish Church of Saint Michael and All Angels and St James’ Church, Ashmansworth. Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 6 is the Highclere Castle Christmas Fair . Admire the spectacular Christ- mas tree and decorations, enjoy the carol singers in the saloon and shop for all your Christmas presents. The fair is in aid of two local charities – tThe Thames Valley Air Ambulance and St Michael & All Angels Church, Highclere. It opens at 9.30am and closes at 4.30pm, with last entry at 2.30pm.
