Important Deadlines •From Monday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Nov. 1, superintendents can review their 2019 Graduation and Prepared for Success data submitted in EMIS. These data impact the graduation rates and Prepared for Success data to be published on the 2020 Ohio School Report Cards. •Through Nov. 6, superintendents of any district or community school offering career and technical education programming can review the Career-Tech Assessment data that were reported in EMIS during the 2019 school year. A superintendent who finds inaccurate data should submit an appeal by the December 14 deadline using the 2019 Data Appeal for CTE Assessment. This is available in the OH|ID portal (formerly SAFE). Green Ribbon Schools Program •Ohio is again taking part in the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools program that recognizes buildings doing exemplary work to reduce environmental impact and costs, improve the health and wellness of students and staff, and provide environmental and sustainability education that incorporates STEM, civic skills and green career pathways. Ohio can nominate as many as four schools or districts, including nonpublic schools, for this national recognition. Find the application here . Purple Star Award •The Purple Star Award for military-friendly schools honors learning communities that show a major commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s military. Awardees receive a special recognition to display in their buildings. A school will be honored with the Purple Star Award if it completes all the required activities, plus one optional activity. The Purple Star Advisory Board – formed by the Ohio Departments of Education, Higher Education, Veterans Services and the Adjutant General – helps support schools through activities like sharing best practices, showcasing school events and offering guidance for schools during the application process. The Purple Star Designation Application is open now through Dec. 2. The Purple Star School program will announce recipients on Jan. 15.
