Elainore is beautifully situated, ami next to Copen­ hagen is the most commercial town in Denmark. The different Consuls for the protection of commerce reside here; the inhabitants amount to about six thou- Band, and in the last year, thirteen thousand vessels passed the sound, each subject to payment of the sound dues, in proportion to their tonnage. Near the Castle of Cronborg is a harbour capable of affording shelter to eighty sail of 6 liips, and about half a mile from this town is the Palace of Maryanlist; it is supposed that the garden attached to this palace is the spot from which Shakspeare has taken his beau­ tiful tragedy of Hamlet; on an eminence at the back of the palace is an extensive, and most beautiful pros­ pect. i , ■ t ' . ■ ’ ' Fredericksberg Palace . ' , „ i. This Palace is the summer residence of His Danish Majesty, and is situated on an eminence about one english mile from the Capital; it is approached by a beautiful avenue, and built after the Italian style of architecture, by order of Ilis Majesty King Frederick the fourth. On the summit of the h ill, where this palace is erected is a fine view of the City and its environs, and' the garden which is laid out with great tasto," is a favourite resort, of the inhabitants of Copenhagen.
