After completing her Classical studies, Annelise Hobbs became a librarian, working in a busy area of central London frequented by local authors and university students as well as the public itself. Eventually, she decided to use her extensive knowledge, and particularly her interest in travel, art, and architecture, to help in her research as an editor, inevitably progressing to writing books herself.
