CLASS OF 1996 ~ 20th Reunion CLASS OF 1996 CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT FUND TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2017

The Class of 1996 celebrated its 20th Reunion last fall.

CLASS REPS: Jennifer McCarthy Bidwell, Jennifer Lamont and Kendra Thompson Has it really been 20 years since we graduated? On October 2, 2016, we kicked off our Reunion Celebrations with Celebration Saturday (you know it as the Havergal Bazaar). It was cold and windy and a little bit wet, but that didn’t keep us ‘96ers from meeting up at the HOGA tent for some coffee and wine (yes, wine!) to catch up and meet friends and families who tagged along. Later that evening, we were treated to a fabulous cocktail party at the school. The Brenda Robson Hall (née Assembly Hall) has never looked better. It was a great event to reconnect and included a Havergal College Security-chaperoned trip to the Common Room. What were we going to do? Sadly, our 1996 cars have since been painted over and replaced with artwork and representation from the newer grad years. Between us, it’s not as cool as it was in ’96. The evening continued with a little party at The Pour House in Toronto, where we all enjoyed great photos and passed notes from our years at HC. So many great stories of highs (and a few lows) were shared that evening – it was inspiring to hear about families, careers, adventures and new passions. We really have a group of powerful, dynamic and unique women. For those who did not attend, our 25th Reunion is in 2021 (which seems so far away), and it would be amazing to have a HUGE turnout.

In other Old Girl news, Catharine Walsh was awarded the Sue Ditchburn Young Alumnae Award last October at the HOGA Annual Dinner. Catharine was recognized for her outstanding research at Sick Kids Hospital, which is helping to optimize learning among health-care professionals around the world. Catharine, this is quite an achievement and we are all very proud of you. Life events this year also include Katie Turner having a son, Ryan, and Marnie Michener Solomon marrying her love, David. Julia Gillespie Pantalone will be stepping away from the Class Rep role – she’s a busy mom of three (Ella is currently in Grade 2 at Havergal) and is also a chair on the HOGA Directorate. Thanks for everything, Julia! We are fortunate to have Kendra Thompson step in to replace her. Kendra is also a busy mom of two girls (future HCers) and an MD at Accenture, where she leads the wealth management practice. Jenny Lamont is spending every spare second soaking up Georgian Bay. As for me ( Jen Bidwell ), I’m enjoying my last year as president of HOGA, busy with my two girls and always having as much fun as I can!
