TORONTO HOSPITALS’ MEMBERS UNDERSTAND WHY POLITICS MATTER!
SEIU Healthcare members at Mount Sinai, Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) and Toronto General were treated to a free BBQ on Tuesday, September 16 in downtown Toronto. Members from all three hospitals took advantage of the warm, sunny weather and enjoyed some delicious burgers, hot dogs, and some cool refreshing ice cream on top of PMH’s outdoor Max Tanenbaum Garden on the 16th floor of the hospital. But this wasn’t just a ‘free lunch’. More than 500 members signed voter commitment cards and numerous members pledged to volunteer their time, energy and resources into helping elect a new progressive government in the upcoming Canadian federal election on October 19. These members want a government that works with the labour movement to strengthen our publicly-funded healthcare system and fight for the interests of working and middle class Canadians.
