Eternal God, God and Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for making me one with your Son. Thank you so much, Lord, for the many wonderful gifts and blessings I have received through Christ, and thank you especially for the great blessing of making me a member of your people, your Church, and the Body of Christ. By faith, you have made me one with all other believers, and granted to me both the honor and duty of living, growing, and serving together in a local church, a living assembly revealed as your family, as the body of Jesus, and as the temple of the Holy Spirit. To know you is to love your people, for you are love. I know that you did not intend for me to live my Christian life as a maverick, to try to fight the good fight by myself, alone and in isolation. Lead me to the local church where you want me to grow, under a pastor who can keep watch over my soul, and with Christians I can love – those fellow warriors with whom I can use my gifts to build up as we testify of your love to our neighbors.
