Grounds Tips for your Home: 1 Annuals should be pinched of faded flowers or, if necessary, you can even prune 20%. Hit with a liquid fertilizer and get stronger more vibrant blooms in two weeks. 2 Roses, keep a watchful eye on black spots and treat with a recommended fungicide, follow the label but early morning is the best time to apply. If you prune, disinfect your shears with each cut (10% bleach, 90% water) dip into water hold for a couple of seconds. 3 Dead of summer, it is OK to raise height on mower. Warm season grasses, ¼” cool season grasses ½” – this helps in reducing evaporation from soil, shades soil (cooling), and reduces stress on grass plant. It is extremely imperative that the blade on your mower is sharp this time of year for a number of reasons, a smaller cut on the plant is the biggest one.

It’s a artnership

When you support your customer and they support you in turn then you know you have truly built a partnership. Recently, the President of Texas A&M University at Texarkana invited the staff of SSC into her boardroom for an unexpected luncheon. SSC was commended for their work, dedication and how much progress had been made over the last 6 weeks in the midst of graduation and student move- out. They even paid specific

compliments to how efficient crews haven been for event coverage, cleanliness of campus grounds during Graduation, and the smoothness of removing and collection of trash when students moved out of the dorms. The SSC staff was especially delighted by the TV monitor set up with a group of “super heros” rushing towards you with “SSC” lettered on their costumes. Taking the time for that one little extra step goes a long way.

Happy Gardening! George Bernardon Regional VP of Grounds

Thank you Texas A&M University at Texarkana! We are proud to be part of your team.
