Hennessy Yearbook 2017

It has been an action packed year at Hennessy Catholic College. I am amazed at how fast the time has passed. In my first year as Principal of this excellent school it has been a year which has found me moving to Young with my family, getting to know 500 new students, working with talented, committed staff and also having the privilege of meeting many parents. Coupled with this has been several articles in the newspa- per, a wonderful welcome to the town, joining the Church, being a member of the Hilltops Economic Development Council, the swimming club and getting to know some brilliant people.

I can honestly say I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to have such a brilliant job! The adventures I have had include trips to the surrounding regions, an immersion into the founding Charisms of the school, working with Regional Principals, having new experiences every day, parent information sessions, many meetings, trips to Canberra, camps, retreats, Hennessy Day, Social Justice Day, sporting events and of course the Melbourne Cup activities! Conversations about farming, horses, sheep, canola, ducks, goats, pigs and chickens and all things “country” are conversations I have cherished and I thank all the Hennessy students for sharing their life experiences and educating me this year. I have also had the experiences of joining the senior students on retreat and leadership camps. My esteem of them continues to grow and I am so impressed by the calibre of all of our Hen- nessy students. They continue to represent the school with so much enthusiasm and pride. Planning for 2018 is well underway and I am really looking forward to embedding our new ver- tical pastoral care system, welcoming our new Assistant Principal Mr Mark Chifley and com- mencing some minor building works to further enhance our school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Fr Tom Thornton, the College Community Council and College Executive, Mr Gary Harton, Mr Gerard Simms, Mrs Sharon Hibbert, Mr Andrew Fouracre, Mr Gareth Logan, Mrs Alexis Lawrence and Mrs Jessica McInerney and Executive As- sistant Mrs Jenny Holloway for all of their guidance and support in this first year. Hennessy Catholic College would not be the exceptional school it is today without them and I cannot de- scribe how they have helped me this year.

I look forward to 2018 an my continuing journey with you all at Hennessy Catholic College.
