AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services for this confidential project in Los Angeles consisting of a geothermal loop, a solar energy system, natural ventilation, a displacement system, LED lighting, spectrally selective glazing, grass and native plants, ecological ponds, EV charger, rainwater harvesting, gray water system, an energy efficient HVAC system, hydronic bidirectional heating/cooling flooring systems.

AlfaTech is currently involved in Uber’s innovative new San Francisco headquarters which is a ground up office building in the Mission Bay district. AlfaTech provided design/bid/build style Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, lighting design, and Technology (low voltage, security, audio/visual) services, throughout the entire project. AlfaTech is part of the construction administration effort and served as the engineer-of-record for mechanical and electrical installations. AlfaTech assisted the architectural design team with optimizing performance by assessing various utility, façade and wind studies. Life-cycle cost analysis, energy benchmarking, and computational fluid dynamics were critical tools to inform the design effort. The project is designed as an innovative, ultra-high performance building that focuses on an occupant-centric workplace and includes an elaborate IT infrastructure, a façade that responds to programmatic needs, an under floor air distribution system, a two-building atria system incorporating natural ventilation, and a central treatment system for collecting graywater and rainwater. The interactions between the occupants, the buildings, and the ambient, were at the heart of the architectural and engineering systems; targeting lower environmental metrics of 1,100,000 kWh in reduced energy use and 2,100,000 gallons in reduced water use. • Chilled sails and occupant-controlled underfloor air-distribution systems • High-performance LED lighting with an occupancy driven network-based • lighting control • Graywater reuse and rainwater catchment systems • Integrated building automation, controls and management platforms • Full air-side and water-side economizing • Fuel cells redundantly powering building network operations • Urban garden • Solar domestic hot water system • PV-ready electrical system The buildings' eco-friendly features consisted of: • Two passively conditioned, interconnected atria • Shaded facade with automated natural ventilation

AlfaTech has provided full MEP design services for this confidential client. The project achieved LEED Platinum as per the City requirements for tenant improvements to all buildings. The project awarded design incentives provided by saving by design. This campus consists of: three interconnected, six-story office buildings with two levels of podium parking on the ground totaling 752,100 SF; 25,000 SF cold core and shell café building with full service commercial kitchen with variable flow system; six-story parking garage; open and collaborative environment with furniture systems; private offices; software/light-hardware labs in buildings 1 and 2 totaling 36,000 SF; server room with cooling redundancy; fitness center and wellness center, 10,000 SF each, in office tower 1 on level 3.

The redesign of floors 9, 10, 11 and 12 featured premium corporate office space in a 12- story building in downtown San Francisco. The project included: the remodel of open office areas; addition and modification of conference rooms; workstation densification; coffee bar modification with ventless equipment and outside vendor catering services; and investigation of the enlargement of the 10th floor assembly space.

Phase 2 encompassed floors 4 through 11 and the 15th floor for a total of 182,156 SF. The space including open office workstations, meeting rooms, conferences, IT rooms and support areas. Technology design services consisted of the 5th floor for a total of 20,000 SF of tenant improvements.

MEP services for new 89,000 SF office space on one single floor plate to house this client’s first San Francisco presence. AlfaTech provided MEP Bid Documents and subsequent review of the MEP Design-Build Subcontractors’ Permit and Construction Drawings. This project consists of the 6th floor build out, including new 64,000 SF café, remodel of another 8,000 SF Café and 5th floor remodel. This project included video conference rooms, creative break-out spaces, lunch/break areas, and server room.

Analog Devices (ADI) relocated its corporate headquarters into two recently completed warm shell buildings in Santa Clara Square. AlfaTech provided MEP design services for this 356,000 SF project encompassing nine of the twelve floors.

The flexible 280,000 SF office space accommodates 950 seats as well as amenities, various lab and specialty program spaces including: 40,000 SF of light electronic labs; 10,000 SF electronic test lab with Class 100,000 clean room; 700 SF of wet labs; 1,200 SF data center; 11,000 SF customer experience center; an executive board room; logistics/shipping/receiving area; and a raised style 60 person auditorium.

AlfaTech provided MEP design services for the world’s largest e-commerce company’s Moffett Towers location. The tenant improvement project encompassed the entire 8-stories of an existing building. The project scope included upgrades to the 1st floor café, open area workstations, private offices, breakout areas, kitchenettes, and conference rooms. The project also included a primary IDF room on one floor, one IDF room on each remaining floor, and one full floor of R&D labs. In addition, AlfaTech has also provided commissioning support, complete building low voltage systems evaluation and central plant support for MEP required modifications and upgrades.

AlfaTech provided MEP/FP engineering services for tenant improvements to the 70,000 SF space, which required expansion to house R&D labs, office space, open work plan and hoteling space, as well as specialized meeting and private spaces for employees. The original building consisted of an existing 4-bay single story high-bay warehouse, which is now converted into this office.

Cisco selected AlfaTech to provide engineering design services for all five sites comprising their world headquarters campus. These buildings, which range from one to four stories, contain a variety of space types, including data center, office, research and development, engineering labs and testing areas, manufacturing, cafeteria, conference, executive briefing, and a fitness center. The firm has been involved with Cisco both nationally and internationally on projects during various stages of engineering services. A substantial PG&E energy rebate resulted from our energy-saving mechanical systems designs, the project also won a separate energy award. Site 1 has a manufacturing plant, and a main engineering and MIS data center. Site 2's data center supports Cisco’s seven day/twenty-four hour online corporate network connectivity, and the infrastructure was designed to support future engineering lab and bench functions. Site 3 buildings required stringent control of temperature and humidity. For Site 4, the firm also performed studies for site utility alternatives including cogeneration.

AlfaTech was selected to provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services for a 42,000 SF office building conversion to a campus center for Intuit. Amenities include: 15,000 SF cafeteria, 12,000 SF fitness center, 13,000 SF conference center, and 3,000 SF “innovation gallery.” Exterior improvements include a sports court and amphitheater.

Building One: 18-story; 440,000 SF Building Two: 15-story, 275,000 SF Building Three: 18-story, 266,000 SF

Now considered a landmark on the San Jose skyline, the Adobe headquarters campus houses more than 2,000 employees. Each of the three buildings has its own parking garage, public lobby, data center, meeting rooms, and mail room. Shared facilities include an auditorium, full-service cafeteria and fitness center. Building Two also features retail space at street level. Additionally, each tower included a data center. The data center design consisted of a 7/24 full generator/UPS backup system for HVAC, lighting and power within the room with 100% redundancy.

OHLONE COMMUNITY COLLEGE – LEED-NC PLATINUM

Type : New Construction Size : 130,000 SF

AlfaTech provided mechanical and electrical engineering master planning and full design services for the new, 130,000 gross square foot, 81-acre, multi-building campus in Newark.

Our energy efficient design included the use of solar energy with roof-mounted PowerGuard 450kV photovoltaic panels, a large geothermal loop system for heating and air conditioning, highly efficient plumbing fixtures and an enthalpy wheel heat/energy recovery system. The MEP systems alone were responsible for 33 of the 55 of the LEED points attained to achieve a LEED-NC Platinum certification for this project (the first LEED Platinum community college in the country). The systems will help to save more than $2.6M in operating expenses over the next 25 years.

The first LEED Platinum-certified MBA facility in California, the GSM offices comprise three stories and the two-story conference center includes a restaurant, office space, meeting rooms, and a one-story ballroom. It also includes a geothermal system.

• Physical Education Building Remodel (Kentfield) – 44,000 SF • Science/Math/Central Plant Complex (Kentfield) - 60,000 SF • Transportation Technology Complex (IVC) – 10,000 SF • Main Building Complex (IVC) – 36,000 SF • Campus Master Planning for Kentfield and Indian Valley Campuses The firm was selected to provide all up-front engineering services relating to all planned bond projects including the master planning, district-wide energy modeling, district-wide mechanical, electrical and plumbing facility assessments and design standards for the District with projects totaling over 170,000 SF. We provided engineering design services and design and construction administration for the renovation of the Diamond P.E. existing complex. The project included new HVAC and electrical distribution. An energy management control system (EMCS) links directly to the new central campus EMCS system on the central part of the Kentfield campus. The project also includes a photovoltaic system which will either provide electrical for distribution in the building or supplemental hot water for the swimming pool. The Science/Math/Central Plant on the Kentfield campus includes a new energy efficient, geothermal underground / renewable energy HVAC system. The new 650- Ton, 340 vertical bore geothermal system provides heating and cooling via ground coupled water source heat pumps to the new Complex and Fine Arts buildings as well as two campus pools. The field was designed and phased for future expansion to support the entire Kentfield campus. The Transportation Technology facility on the Indian Valley campus required the total renovation of 10,000 SF which includes automobile technology repair facilities and instructional offices. The facility includes a radiant floor heating system and a solar thermal system to provide domestic hot water. In addition, the firm is working with the Kentfield campus on the Larkspur Annex to upgrade the electrical services and distribution to create a staging area for future campus construction.

The firm provided master planning and infrastructure design services for the City College of San Francisco’s new Ocean Avenue campus. The campus will house eight new buildings including a performing arts center, advanced technology building, joint use facility, central plant (part of joint use building), classroom building, dormitory, and bookstore totaling 437,000 SF. The College’s project goals included the buildings be designed and certified to a minimum LEED Silver rating. AlfaTech provided engineering design services for several projects at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, a 12-story, 323-bed hospital tower, located in San Francisco, CA. SFMH is also a Dignity Health network member. Projects included converting an entire floor into the Bothin Burn Center, providing new OR rooms, remodeled psychiatry wing and MRI rooms. Additionally the firm has performed steam boiler and medical gas upgrades, pre-op recovery area, lobby & nurse’s station remodel, refrigerator & freezer replacement and office renovations. The new Bothin Burn Center is a 15,500 SF, 16-bed, intensive care burn unit on the 5th floor of the hospital. Bothin Burn Center is the largest in northern California, treating over 500 burn victims each year. This isolation unit features an independent ventilating system, minimizes the risk of outside contamination and maintains strict room temperature and humidity control.
