R&D Memo Determination of Fructans in Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals by Anion-Exchange- Chromatography with Pulsed Amperometric Detection after Enzymatic Treatment (AOAC 2016.14): Collaborative Study
Objective Question
Check if the new fructan method (AOAC 2016.14) meets the standard method performance requirements defined in AOAC SMPR 2014.002. Sean Austin, (NR-NIFSAS) and VĂ©ronique Spichtig (NR- NIFSAS), Kommer Brunt (Rotating Disc BV, Haren, The Netherlands), Jeroen van Soest and Peter Sanders (Eurofins Carbohydrate Competence Centre, Heerenveen, The Netherlands) Fourteen labs participated in the multi lab trial (MLT). Twelve labs were able to deliver data on one practice sample and eight MLT samples. Requirements were RSD r < 6% and RSD R < 12%. The results on 5 MLT samples and the practice sample met these requirements. One sample had RSD r and RSD R of 7.7% and 13% respectively, two other samples had acceptable RSD r but RSD R was 15%.
