AOAC OMB Final Action Recommendation (December 2019)-2016.14

FOR EXPERT REVIEW PANEL USE ONLY NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION

Cons/Weaknesses • Should a performance criteria test for fructanase have been included as well?

• As part of the validation work, I note that recoveries outside the range of the SMPR were experienced for a high protein and/or high hydrolyzed protein matrix. Perhaps a potential improvement for the future might be to investigate what was happening? • Maybe I am old fashioned, but has anyone tried to do the final chromatography using a sensitive refractive index detector, perhaps reducing laboratory time, expense, and waste? Supporting Data • General Comment: Excellent Method Optimization: Excellent

• Performance Characteristics: See SMPR and Report Analytical Range: See SMPR and Report LOQ: See SMPR and Report Accuracy/Recovery: See SMPR and Report Precision (RSD r ): See SMPR and Report Reproducibility (RSD R ): See SMPR and Report

• System suitability: All the criteria for establishing system suitability are included in the method. Recommendation: I highly recommend that AOAC method 2016.14 be advanced for adoption as an AOAC Final Action Method.
