Between 1821 and 1856, the Presbyterian Church established nine missions in the Missouri-Kansas area. 0JM XBT ĕ STU GPVOE JO B XFMM JO Kansas about 200 yards southeast of the Wea Mission site. In 1860, three oil wells were dug in the Paola vicin ity. David Lykins joined Dr. G.W. Brown, editor of the Lawrence Her ald of Freedom in obtaining leases on some 30,000 acres for exploration. ć F PVUCSFBL PG UIF $JWJM 8BS CSPLF up the drilling operation. David Ly kins was arrested in June of 1861 and VQPO CFJOH SFMFBTFE Ę FE UP $PMPSBEP Territory. He died August 13, 1864 and is buried in Denver, Colorado.
