Mounted shooting combines quick horses and tuned horsemanship skills as competitors run a series of patterns. The object is to navigate an arena course using two single-action cowboy revolvers, each loaded with black powder blanks, to take out balloon targets mounted on poles. The powder granules burst the balloons up to a range of nearly 20 feet. Typically, on the front half of the course, while running the varied pattern that includes rollbacks, lead changes, and swift barrel turns. The first gun is drawn as the rider attempts to burst as many balloons as possible. The second part of the course is called the “rundown” for it is here that riders turn on the afterburners in attempt to eliminate all the targets while beating the clock. The winner is the fastest rider with the least number of misses. Each division will be running for the Champion title and will receive a trophy saddle from R Bar B in Topeka! Each division Reserve Champion title will receive an amazing sadle pad from www.saddleright.com. Come see this exciting event! Each level will get faster and faster.
