Dr. Leah Tsoodle ltsoodle@ksu.edu Dr. Leah J. Tsoodle is the director of the Land Use Survey Office and an assistant extension professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Leah received her PhD from Kansas State in 2005. She works with both

undergraduate and graduate students and conducts research in the areas of land values, land rental rates, and economic development. Leah also maintains a varied out- reach program designed to disseminate her research information to various stakeholders in Kansas land mar- kets and economic development groups. ASPCA Vice President, Equine Welfare Emily Weiss, Ph.D., oversees strategic direction of the ASPCA Equine Welfare program. As an Applied Animal Behaviorist, Weiss has worked with species as varied as lions, orangutans, elephants and Komodo dragons, as well as many dogs, cats and horses. Weiss is a lifelong horse owner and trainer and has conducted research regarding adoption and rehoming of horses. Dr. Weiss leads the efforts at the ASPCA to achieve the goal of all equines having good welfare. Her work aims squarely on increasing the rehoming of horses, the development of effective safety net program- ming and a third focus of effective law enforcement response to cruelty and neglect. She is a founding member of Equine Welfare Data Collective and serves on the Animal Welfare Advisory board of the American Horse Council. A nationally
