a different way to swing and rope since she had lost all her arm strength. He pushed her to rope the dummy and dedicated himself to help her get thru the pain and build her arm strength. It was hard work, they roped daily until Kandy could rope the dummy at least 15 times before her arm was done. For the first time in seven years, Kandy was ready to head out on the rodeo trail. And she did just that, ending the 2017 season just one out of going to the finals in the MRCA. As the 2017 season closed and the 2018 season opened, Brad helped Kandy keep Cracker legged and tuned up as she worked harder on her dummy roping, riding and hustling Cracker more out of the box. They are all a great team. Family helping family. “Cracker makes it easy for me to do my job” says Kandy in our conversation. Kandy fully believes that the success they have had this year is because Brad worked so hard with her and how she was riding him. He worked with her on horsemanship skills, hustling Cracker more and staying centered in the saddle and roping strong. Kandy started back rodeoing in the MRCA and URA for the 2018 season doing well. It was really looking to be a promising year to make the finals. One day in September, Kandy and their son Shane were in route to Guthrie, Oklahoma for a big roping. It was raining terrible and they decided to pull over to shut the windows on the horses. Kandy ran back quickly and

got the windows shut, as she quickly turned around to head back to the truck she seen two cars coming towards her side by side, knowing that there was no way that they were going to move over. As Kandy was frantically running to get back in the truck before the cars reached her, she hooked her arm on the trailer jack hook and it threw her against the trailer. She kept moving forward making it between the truck

and trailer into the truck just in time. With blood gushing from her arm and hardly being able to talk from lack of oxygen, she assured her family she was fine as they pressed on to Guthrie. When they arrived, Shane unloaded his horse, tacked up and unhooked the trailer. It was time for Kandy to go find a Quick Care to get an x-ray on her arm. Their x-ray showed a fractured wrist.
