Prof. Michael L. Fox
Professor Michael L. Fox is Assistant Professor of Business Law in the School of Business at Mount Saint Mary College, in Orange County, New York; and is the Coordinator of the Business Graduate (MBA) Program. He teaches courses in the undergraduate business program, and in the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program. He also serves as the College’s Pre-Law Advisor. In addition, Prof. Fox is an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Law at Columbia University School of Law, teaching professional responsibility in the Doctor of Law (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs. Professor Fox has published two books, one on electronic discovery, social media and ethics entitled Primer for an
Evolving eWorld (Kendall Hunt Publishing Co., 2d ed. 2020); and one on diversity, inclusion and elimination of bias entitled A Guide to Diversity & Inclusion in the 21st Century Workplace (N.Y. St. Bar Assoc. Publ., 2d ed. 2021). For three seasons he was co-host of the New York State Bar Association’s Podcast “ Gold/Fox: Non-Billable ”, available on Spotify, iTunes, the Podcast App, Google Play, iHeart Radio App, and the NYSBA website. Professor Fox received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude , from Bucknell University. He received his Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an Articles Editor on the Columbia Business Law Review . He served as a law clerk to the Hon. Lawrence E. Kahn, U.S. District Judge, Northern District of New York; and was special counsel and partner in Hudson Valley law firms prior to academia. He has been rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale- Hubbell since 2015, and is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as in the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Professor Fox has been very active with the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and Orange County Bar Association. He is a former Vice President for the Ninth Judicial District of the NYSBA, former member of the NYSBA Executive Committee, and former Section chair. He currently serves in the NYSBA House of Delegates, and is the immediate past chair of the NYSBA Committee on Communications & Publications. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association; and serves on the Advisory Board of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Board of Directors of the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles and CLEs, and spoken at over 100 programs and symposia, concerning Federal civil procedure, attorney-client privilege & work product, electronic discovery, evidence, professional ethics, employment law, diversity & inclusion, and pre-law/professional advice for college students.
