Jesus came in the name of the LORD—to reveal God’s name as humanity wondered about God’s name unceasingly. The Father gave Jesus His name; put the emphasis on HIS NAME, to reveal a name above all other names. Jesus is the name of the Father and the Son, and the name Christ an epithet. Christ was/is certainly applicable to Jesus’ mission, but that name was a misnomer—the world rejected Him, because of His nonconformity. The name Christ is significant to the Messianic mission, specific to one whom Jesus would anoint to fulfill the mission. Jesus anointed by His Father in an obscure way, was the Christ, but only to the extent He was God—today His name is a name above every other name and the name Christ, an the anointed one no longer applies. Jesus anoints His Christ, thus the scriptures say ‘blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’ is applicable in a most profound way. When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan women at the well, pronounced expectations of the Messiah, saying; “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” Jesus declared, “Be l i e v e me , woman , a t ime i s c omi ng when y ou wi l l wo r sh i p t he Fa t he r ne i t he r on t h i s moun t a i n no r i n J e rusa l em. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. In context, we are indeed blessed when we come together in the name of Jesus, understanding that Jesus and the Father are now one.
