WELDED ART PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION THE ARTISTIC SOUL OF WELDING
EDUCATORS AS MOTIVATORS
Around the world there are many universities, technical colleges, art colleges and high schools where Educators inspire students through welded art to take up careers in welding as well as enhance their welding skills to increase their opportunities for employment. This IIW 2021 Digital Collection Category highlights such educators: Leah Applejohn and Paulo Ferreira (Canada) , with their exhibit “NAIT Ook” responded to the challenge, showing students searching for careers to see the value and benefits of welding. Jennifer Costa (USA) with her exhibit “The Jackson Table” is fascinated by form and function, teaching her students how the two can work in unison, one sometimes outweighing the other, but still working together. Eric McCutcheon (Canada) uses welded art exhibits, “the skull, the spider and the scorpion” to teach Correctional Centre inmates welding skills which will help them obtain employment. Daniela Torelli (Canada) with her exhibit “Reckless Love” , uses her experiences and knowledge to educate new students starting their welding journey, and introduce them to the artistic side of metal. Renee Saloka Wallbaum (USA) with her exhibit “Steel Habitat” inspires people to preserve native wildlife and its habitat by creating hollows in trees to provide shelter from weather and predators, as well as create a safe spot for nesting and breeding.
