FEBRUARY 2015 BEACON
Vice Commodores Comments…
Man was it ever a BLAST!!! The 2015 Commodore's Ball is now in the history books. The NCYC rich tradition of our Commodore’s Ball was well attended and it did not disappoint. Brian and his lovely wife Renee, along with all of their NCYC support team did a fantastic job. If you unfortunately had to miss the event for whatever reason, bummer, you missed good food and drink, good music and dancing, great comradery, and a great party. We still have fun to look forward to this winter. The ABYA event in Midland is approaching in March. It is not too late to get your reservations in to participate in that fun event and represent NCYC. Also bowling each month is a great way to stay connected to our extended family at NCYC, come say hi and socialize with the teams. As Vice Commodore, I am taking tons of notes in preparation for my Commodore year using Commodore Brian’s actions as my guide. One of the events I must prepare for is the 2016 Commodores cruise. I know you are saying it is only February 2105! Why so early? Well, we will need to make reservations a year in advance to ensure that our group is covered for this exciting event. My original choice was gong north through Lake Huron to Georgian Bay and the North Channel. As I thought about the trip, I felt that plan might be a bit selfish and many members would likely not be able to participate. Then Sandi and I had a brainstorm and came up with an idea that we feel will make participation possible and desirable for a much larger group. The plan is to go south, tentatively the 2 nd week in August, to Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee or Lake Cumberland and rent houseboats with all of the amenities; slides on the top to go into the lake for swimming, hot tubs under the stars, and much more. They have houseboats that can accommodate from three to six couples per boat. So buddy up, find a group that you love spending time with, and let Sandi or I know so we can get you on the list for this new, exciting boating experience. We can raft the houseboats and have a big party. Sandi and I are trailering our center console to be able to tube, board, ski, and fish; others may want to do the same? More information to follow in the next couple of months. See the web site link for more information http://www.houseboating.org We each need to be logging the “save the date” on our calendars for the very important upcoming elite brigade dates as well as the opening work parties. I look forward to it! As the count down continues for launch, only 63 days, it is getting closer every day! V/C Chuck Stroh
