North Channel Yacht Club Membership Roster 2022

Historical Marker 1869 – The North Channel mainland and island were very isolated. The Pointe Tremble Prairie (now called St. John’s Marsh) isolated Pearl Beach and Algonac from Fair Haven. There was a passenger service from steamer from Mt. Clemens to Pearl Beach and Algonac. There was an abundance of game, and North Channel Shooting Club was established in 1869. The original clubhouse was partially destroyed by fire. In 1878, the clubhouse was rebuilt. The new register has the first entry on March 17, 1878. The North Channel Shooting Club was among the first, or possibly the first, club in the flats area. The first president, Marcus Stevens, was also a member of the old club. The main activity at the club was hunting and fishing. In 1923, prohibition reduced use of the club. In 1940, an active club member purchased the club and operated it as North Channel Hotel. In 1968, Chrysler Management Club purchased the club to operate it as Chrysler Yacht Club. In 1981, the name was changed to North Channel Yacht Club.
